For Plain City residents, the quest for the ultimate pizza has been an ongoing saga for years. The debate rages on: where can you find the definitive best pizza in town? At pioneer-technology.com, we decided to tackle this cheesy conundrum head-on and conduct our own taste test to settle the score, or at least offer some delicious guidance. In this pizza pilgrimage, we ventured to uncover Plain City’s pizza champion, with a special focus on local favorite, Pioneer Pizza Plain City, to see how it stacks up against the competition.
Before diving into our saucy discoveries, it’s important to set the table rules. Our pizza pursuit was strictly confined to Plain City city limits. This means beloved spots just outside the boundary, like Beer Barrel, Costco, and the Dublin/Hilliard contenders, were off the menu for this particular investigation.
Additionally, while Buckeye Barbeque and Pizza on Bigelow Ave is within Plain City, its operating hours didn’t align with our taste testing schedule, unfortunately excluding them from this round of pizza evaluations.
This narrowed our pizza playing field to four prominent Plain City contenders: Pioneer Pizza, Plain City Lanes, Dominoes, and Jan and Tony’s. Each brings its own unique flavor profile to the Plain City pizza scene, and we were eager to put them to the test.
To ensure a fair and unbiased pizza examination, we orchestrated a blind taste test with a diverse focus group of 13 individuals, comprising both journalism professionals and pizza enthusiasts from various backgrounds. We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza from each of the four establishments. The pizzas were presented to our panel in random order, with no indication of origin. Each participant then rigorously rated each pizza on a scale of 1 to 5, based purely on taste and texture.
Here’s how the slices fell in our Plain City Pizza Taste Test:
Landing in fourth place is Plain City Lanes. Our focus group found merit in Plain City Lanes’ sauce and crust, noting enjoyable qualities. However, the cheese didn’t quite win over the panel. Despite this, it’s worth noting that Plain City Lanes shone in customer service during our pizza purchase, and it also emerges as the most budget-friendly option per inch of pizza in our lineup (though price wasn’t a factor in the taste ratings).
Securing a tie for the second and third positions are Dominoes and Pioneer Pizza. This close call highlights the diverse preferences within Plain City pizza palates. Dominoes, a globally recognized brand, sparked strong recognition among tasters. Interestingly, despite distinct flavor profiles, Dominoes and Pioneer Pizza Plain City garnered an equal number of votes as favorites. Pioneer Pizza edged out Dominoes in sauce score, while Dominoes took the lead in crust appreciation. Dominoes, in particular, elicited polarized opinions, ranging from declarations of “absolute trash” to praise for its “very melty, which is really nice” cheese. Pioneer Pizza, on the other hand, received more moderate and consistent feedback, often described with comments like “ehh,” and “mid,” suggesting a solid, if not spectacular, middle-ground pizza experience.
And now, for the moment of truth, the crown for Best Pizza in Plain City goes to… Jan and Tony’s!
Jan and Tony’s pizza overwhelmingly captivated our focus group, amassing a remarkable 8 out of 13 votes for the top spot. One enthusiastic reviewer proclaimed Jan and Tony’s as, “Perfect, [the] most delicious pizza ever!” Another participant’s adoration was so profound they literally drew hearts around their notes on Jan and Tony’s. Notably, Jan and Tony’s received no negative comments – every taster either enjoyed it or found it perfectly acceptable, showcasing its broad appeal.
In conclusion, our Plain City pizza investigation affirms that this town is indeed a haven for pizza lovers. While opinions on individual pizzas were diverse and sometimes strongly held, everyone in our focus group discovered at least one pizza they genuinely enjoyed. From well-known chains to cherished family-run establishments like Pioneer Pizza Plain City and Jan and Tony’s, Plain City offers a pizza for every preference and palate within its city limits.
