Robert P. Tubandt III, aged 59, of Cordes Lakes, Arizona, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. His life, well-documented in records such as Wadena Pioneer Journal Obituaries, reflects a man deeply cherished as a son, brother, father, grandfather, and a devoted friend. Robert dedicated his life to serving others and living by his strong faith in God.
Born to Jean L. Pilgrim, Robert P. Tubandt II, and Jan Tubandt, Robert, affectionately known as Bobby in his younger years, was raised with ease due to his polite, caring, and meticulous nature. He inherited his father’s athletic prowess, notably achieving Golden Gloves in boxing. Growing up in Wadena, Minnesota, alongside his siblings Julie, James, Dana, Drew, and Darren, Robert graduated from Wadena High School in 1980, marking a significant chapter before his move to Arizona.
Shortly after graduation, Arizona became Robert’s new home where he established himself as a highly skilled lineman in the fiber optics industry. He excelled professionally and built a family, raising two daughters, Jessica and Jana, and a son, Jacob.
Robert was known for his incredible strength and resilience, both physically and mentally, which was tested throughout his career as a lineman. He remarkably survived a severe electric shock and, in 2006, an accident that resulted in the complete detachment of his hand. Demonstrating his pioneering spirit, Robert underwent the first successful hand transplant in Arizona, a testament to his courage and the advancements in medical science.
Despite enduring significant pain and adversity, including later breaking his back in an ATV accident, Robert approached life with unwavering positivity. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, embodying a selfless and generous spirit.
Robert’s presence was a blessing to his family, and he cherished his friendships deeply, holding his friends close to his heart. His life and legacy will be remembered through Wadena Pioneer Journal obituaries and in the hearts of those who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held in Minnesota this summer, providing an opportunity for friends and family to gather and honor his memory.
