Located within the well-loved Pioneer Park at 1150 West Foster Road, this new playground boasts state-of-the-art PlayCore equipment, specifically chosen to cater to a wide spectrum of needs. Children with visual, mobile, and hearing impairments will find thoughtfully designed features that allow them to fully engage in play. The playground offers a diverse range of activities, from exciting slides to interactive musical instruments, and various climbing, balancing, and spinning apparatuses, ensuring there’s something fun for every child to enjoy.

Pioneer Park is more than just a playground; it’s a community hub. Beyond the inclusive play area, visitors can take advantage of extensive amenities. These include a spacious barbecue and picnic area perfect for family gatherings, open grassy fields shaded by native oak trees for relaxation, and even horseshoe pits for a bit of friendly competition. With a generous capacity for up to 900 people, Pioneer Park is equipped to host events and has quickly become a sought-after location for community activities in Santa Maria.

This project aligns with Santa Maria’s “Smart City, Safe City” initiative, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all residents. The city’s commitment to inclusivity is further demonstrated by the installation of its first inclusive playground at Preisker Park in June 2020. For any inquiries about the new inclusive playground or Pioneer Park, the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department can be contacted at 805-925-0951, extension 2260. Pioneer Park stands as a testament to Santa Maria’s dedication to creating accessible and enjoyable spaces for everyone in the community.
