The Ultimate Guide to Brunch in Pioneer Square: Experiencing the Electric Vibe of Muse Lounge

Pioneer Square, Seattle’s historic heart, is buzzing with renewed energy, and at the forefront of this vibrant resurgence is Muse Lounge. Since opening its doors, Muse has quickly become the go-to destination for those seeking an unforgettable brunch experience. Forget quiet mornings; Muse Lounge injects pure exhilaration into your weekend with its now-famous “Litty Brunch.” Imagine stepping into a space where the music is pumping, champagne bottles are adorned with sparklers, and the energy is infectious – that’s Muse.

This isn’t your typical brunch spot. Muse Lounge, brainchild of sisters Jasmin and Addie Mendoza, brings a unique party atmosphere to the Seattle brunch scene. Building on their experience from Sweet Notes Cafe in Kent, a more subdued, alcohol-free brunch location, the Mendoza sisters envisioned Muse as a lively contrast. They wanted to create a space that transports you, a place where the everyday is left at the door and celebration takes center stage.

“We’ve always wanted to open a concept like this in Seattle because we love these kinds of brunch vibes and going out,” explains Jasmin. Addie adds, “We kind of wanted something bright, something lively, that kind of feels like you walk in here and you don’t know where you’re at.” And they’ve undeniably succeeded.

The interior of Muse is a feast for the senses. A stunning wall of white roses greets you upon entry, alongside a bold neon sign declaring, “Be your own muse.” The décor is modern and striking, with black walls and charcoal floors setting a dramatic backdrop for vibrant pops of white and red flowers, and lush green vines. Even the restrooms are designed for fun, with mirrors bearing playful phrases like “Main character energy.” It’s clear every detail has been carefully considered to create an Instagrammable paradise with a high-energy party atmosphere.

The goal, as Addie explains, was to craft a space where “people felt like, oh, it’s OK to get a whole bottle of champagne at 9 a.m.” This playful, celebratory spirit is what defines the Muse Lounge brunch experience and sets it apart in Pioneer Square.

Choosing Pioneer Square for Muse was a deliberate decision. While initially seeking a location for a second Sweet Notes Cafe, the Mendoza sisters recognized that Pioneer Square was the perfect canvas for their more ambitious concept. Jasmin highlights her affection for the neighborhood: “I think it’s probably my favorite neighborhood in Seattle. I think people really need to give it a shot post-pandemic because the city and the Pioneer Square Alliance has really put in work to try to, you know, clean it up, and they’ve done a great job.” She emphasizes the community spirit and the dedication of local businesses in revitalizing Pioneer Square, making Muse Lounge a perfect fit for the area’s resurgence.

But Muse Lounge offers more than just its renowned “Litty Brunch.” Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Muse maintains a vibrant energy throughout the day. Jasmin notes that the atmosphere is consistently lively, whether it’s brunch or dinner service. One of the aspects the sisters cherish most about Muse is its ability to foster connection. Challenging the notion of the “Seattle freeze,” Jasmin wanted Muse to be “a place where it’s not going to be weird if you want to chit-chat for whatever reason. You know, a safe space.”

Of course, no brunch experience is complete without exceptional food and drinks, and Muse Lounge delivers on both fronts. Their menu is packed with mouthwatering options, from the decadent Berry Cheesy Crepes to show-stopping cocktails served in whimsical glasses. Pina Mendoza, another sister who frequently assists at Muse, recommends the Banana Foster Waffle and Chilaquiles for brunch, and the steak for dinner, showcasing the menu’s diverse appeal. Jasmin credits their family’s support and taste-testing in refining the menu to its current delicious state.

Running Muse Lounge as sisters has been an exciting journey for Jasmin and Addie. Jasmin reflects on their dynamic: “[We] really complement each other because what my strengths are, are not hers, and vice versa. I feel like that’s just what makes it come together.” This strong family bond is undoubtedly part of the magic behind Muse Lounge’s success.

Looking ahead, Muse Lounge is poised to become an even more integral part of the Pioneer Square community. Plans for a patio expansion are underway, and the Mendoza sisters are enthusiastic about hosting more community events, building on the success of their Galentine’s Day celebration. They are even considering themed nights like a women-only evening, further solidifying Muse as a dynamic and inclusive space.

While the high-energy brunch party at Muse Lounge might not be for everyone seeking a quiet, subdued meal, Addie emphasizes that the overwhelming response has been incredibly positive. “You feel like, you know, there’s nothing like this in Seattle,” she says, capturing the unique niche Muse has carved out. Jasmin echoes this sentiment: “It’s so encouraging to us.”

So, for your next celebration, special occasion, or simply a weekend craving for a brunch experience that breaks the mold, head to Muse Lounge in Pioneer Square. Prepare to be energized, entertained, and utterly charmed by the unique brunch pioneer spirit of Muse.
