Pioneer Elementary School: Nurturing Young Minds for a Brighter Future

At Pioneer Elementary School, we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students. Located within the Douglas County School District, we pride ourselves on our commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of each child. We believe in creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning, guided by principles of fairness, respect, and equal opportunity.

Our Commitment to Non-Discrimination

Pioneer Elementary School, as part of the Douglas County School District RE-1, strictly adheres to all applicable federal and state laws prohibiting discrimination. We are committed to ensuring that no student, employee, applicant for employment, or member of the public is unlawfully discriminated against based on disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, religion, ancestry, or need for special education services. This commitment extends to all aspects of our school operations, from admissions and academics to extracurricular activities and employment practices.

Discrimination based on age, genetic information, and conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth is also strictly prohibited. We have established clear complaint procedures for students, parents, employees, and members of the public to address any concerns related to discrimination. Our designated Compliance Officer and Title IX Coordinator, Aaron Henderson, is available to address complaints alleging sexual harassment under Title IX and can be reached at 620 Wilcox Street, Castle Rock, Colorado, or by phone at 303-387-0127. For complaints that fall under the jurisdiction of outside agencies, information regarding how to file with the Office for Civil Rights, the Federal Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or the Colorado Civil Rights Commission is readily available through the district website and school administration.

Special Education Services at Pioneer Elementary

Pioneer Elementary School is deeply committed to providing comprehensive special education services to students who require them. We understand the importance of early identification and intervention to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Our special education programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each child, providing individualized support and resources within a nurturing and inclusive setting.

In accordance with state and federal regulations, we maintain special education records for a period of five years after a student’s special education services have ended. This ensures that records are available for parents or former students who may need them for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, or other purposes. After this retention period, and in compliance with legal guidelines, the district may proceed with the destruction of these records. However, parents or eligible former students are always welcome to request copies of these records within the retention window through the Douglas County School District’s designated record request portal. We strive to keep families informed about record management policies and ensure a smooth process for accessing student information when needed.

Fostering a Supportive and Inclusive Community

Pioneer Elementary School is more than just a school; it’s a community. We believe in fostering strong partnerships between our educators, students, families, and the wider community to create a supportive and enriching environment for learning. We encourage open communication and collaboration to ensure that every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed. Through various school events, parent-teacher organizations, and community outreach programs, we aim to build a strong and connected Pioneer Elementary family.
