Welcome to the University of Denver! Your Pioneer Card is more than just an ID – it’s your key to campus life. This official University of Denver identification card is essential for all students, faculty, and staff. It’s important to carry your Pioneer Card with you whenever you’re on campus. Keep reading for vital information about obtaining and using your Pioneer Card, along with important updates from the ID Office.

Understanding Your Pioneer Card

The Pioneer Card serves as your official University of Denver ID, granting you access to various campus resources and services. Whether you’re a student, faculty member, or staff, this card is a necessary part of your DU experience. It’s your gateway to everything from library access to campus events.

Getting Your First Pioneer Card

For new members of the DU community – students, faculty, and staff – the first Pioneer Card is provided completely free of charge. To streamline the process, we encourage digital photo submissions whenever possible.

Submitting Your Photo Online: Detailed instructions for submitting your photo digitally can be found here. Once your photo is approved, you can pick up your card at your convenience during our office hours.

Picking Up Your Card: The ID Card Office is located in Driscoll South, at 2050 E. Evans Ave, Suite 4, Denver CO 80210 in the Driscoll Commons Building. If you encounter any issues accessing the building, please call us at 303-871-4545 for assistance.

Online Students: If you are enrolled as an all-online student and require your ID card to be mailed to you, please contact us at [email protected] to arrange mailing services.

Replacement Pioneer Cards

Life happens, and cards get lost or damaged. If you need a replacement Pioneer Card, the fee is $30. This fee can be paid by cash, check, Flex, or, for students, charged to your student account. Flex is particularly convenient for mailed replacement cards.

Adding Flex Funds: You can easily add Flex funds to your card using a credit or debit card at this link. While there is a replacement card fee, mailing of replacement cards is free of charge.

How to Request a Replacement: Students and employees in need of a replacement ID Card can visit our office in Driscoll South. Alternatively, you can request a replacement card to be mailed to you. More detailed information on replacement cards can be found here.

Important Updates and Reminders

RTD Pass Management Change: Please note that as of July 1, 2024, management of RTD CollegePass and RTD EcoPass has transitioned to Parking and Mobility Services. For any questions or assistance regarding your RTD pass, contact Parking and Mobility Services via email at [email protected] or by phone at 303-871-3210. You can also visit the DU Parking website for more information: https://www.du.edu/parking/mobility/denver-mass-transit.

Upcoming Adjusted Hours: Please be aware of the following upcoming changes to our regular office hours:

  • Thursday, February 20th: ID Office will be closing early at 2:30pm.
  • Wednesday, March 19th: ID Office will be closed from 8:45am to 10:15am for staff development. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Handle Your Card with Care: It’s crucial to not hole-punch your DU ID Card. The entire card contains a computer chip, and any hole-punching, cutting, folding, or damage will render it non-functional.

Photo ID Requirement: Remember to bring a valid form of photo identification, such as a driver’s license or passport, when picking up your ID card.
