Cracker Cowboy Day – Saturday, March 1, 2025 (10 am – 4 pm)
Experience the authentic spirit of Florida’s pioneering cattle drivers at Cracker Cowboy Day. This action-packed day, from 10 am to 4 pm, promises a deep dive into the traditions and skills of the Cracker Cowboys, famed for their unique cattle herding techniques using distinctive whip-cracking sounds. Witness captivating whip cracking presentations that echo the heritage of the Florida frontier. Marvel at the craftsmanship of a blacksmith exhibition, showcasing the essential skills of the era. Engage with thrilling heading and heeling roping demonstrations, a true test of cowboy prowess. Even the young ones can get in on the action with children’s roping activities right in front of the historic Overstreet House.
Music will fill the air with three live bands providing a vibrant soundtrack to the day: The Geared Up Band on the Main Gazebo, The Barking Dogs Band (playing Old Time Music) near the General Store, and The Not Dead Yet Band offering Cowboy Music and Cowboy Poetry in the Mabel Jordan Barn. Animal lovers will enjoy the petting zoo, and the first 100 children visiting the petting zoo will receive a free cowboy or cowgirl hat (while supplies last). For the adventurous, try your hand at axe throwing, and for fans of the popular Yellowstone TV series, don’t miss the photo opportunity with a cardboard cutout of Rip Wheeler at the Train Station.
