Celebrating its remarkable 76th season in Danville, Pioneer Playhouse invites you to an evening of captivating performances, delicious food, and Southern hospitality. Dinner starts at 7 pm, followed by the show at 8:30 pm (except during Elvis weekend, when the show begins at 8 pm after dinner at 7 pm).
Pioneer Playhouse is committed to accessibility, ensuring comfortable seating and access for everyone in all areas, including the dining patio, play amphitheater, restrooms, and indoor theatre exhibits.
All shows are performed outdoors, adding a unique charm to your theater experience. Don’t let a little rain deter you – the show will go on! In case of severe weather causing cancellation, rain checks will be issued.

June 6 – June 28: THE GAME’S AFOOTA Sherlock Holmes Mystery
Prepare for a thrilling and hilarious ride with Ken Ludwig’s “THE GAME’S AFOOT.” Set in 1936, Broadway star William Gillette, famed for his Sherlock Holmes portrayal, hosts a weekend gathering at his secluded mansion. But when a guest turns up dead, the weekend of revelry quickly turns perilous. Gillette, channeling his inner Sherlock Holmes, must unravel the mystery before it’s too late! This Edgar Allen Poe Award-winning play promises a rollercoaster of excitement and laughter.
July 1 – July 19: WALKING ACROSS EGYPT Adapted by Catherine Bush
Based on the beloved book by Clyde Edgerton, “WALKING ACROSS EGYPT” tells the heartwarming and humorous story of Mattie Rigsbee. As Mattie slows down, her good intentions lead to a series of comical events involving car theft, prison breaks, and a juvenile delinquent named Wesley. Armed with her faith and famous cornbread, Mattie is determined to set things right, if she can just stay out of trouble herself! Enjoy this uplifting Southern comedy full of charm and wit.
July 22 – August 9: NOT FROM AROUND HERE Original play! Local authors!
Pioneer Playhouse proudly presents “NOT FROM AROUND HERE,” a brand new, original comedy by local talents Jennifer Goff and Brian Scruggs. It’s 1988, and the Smiths and Joneses are the epitome of perfect neighbors, sharing everything – almost. Life is idyllic until the Joneses receive news that is truly out of this world! How do you tell your best friends and potential in-laws that you’re moving… a zillion light years away?! This zany and delightful new play is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
August 14, 15, 16: Good Rockin’ Tonight! Elvis Presley and his Rockabilly Queen, Wanda Jackson!
Don’t miss a special musical event celebrating the King of Rock and Roll and the Queen of Rockabilly! “Good Rockin’ Tonight!” honors Elvis Presley and Wanda Jackson with incredible live performances. Featuring two Elvises and one Wanda, backed by a full live band, this is a night of unforgettable music. Please note the earlier start time of 8:00 pm for these special performances!
Performances run Tuesday through Saturday from June 6 to August 9. Dinner & Show begins at 7:30 pm, with Show Only at 8:30 pm (EDT).
