Pioneer Pool enjoys a prime location on the west side of the Cal State East Bay Hayward campus. Positioned overlooking the scenic San Francisco Bay, the pool is conveniently situated just north of Pioneer Gymnasium, adjacent to West Loop and Lot M. This central campus location makes Pioneer Pool easily accessible for students, faculty, and visitors alike.
Spectator Information and Amenities
For those attending events at Pioneer Pool, comfortable spectator arrangements are available. Two sets of metal bleachers are located along the west side of the pool, providing elevated views of the aquatic action. Additionally, a spacious grass area between the pool and the Pioneer Gym locker room facilities offers a more relaxed setting for spectators to sit or stand and enjoy the events.
Ticket and Parking Details for Pioneer Pool Events
Attending swim meets and water polo matches at Pioneer Pool is free of charge, making it an accessible and enjoyable outing for everyone. Parking on the Cal State East Bay campus requires a daily permit, which can be conveniently purchased at automated kiosks. Permits are priced at $2 per hour or $10 for a full day. Notably, parking permits are not required on Saturdays, Sundays, or after 5 p.m. on Fridays, offering greater flexibility for evening and weekend events. During swimming and water polo events, parking is readily available in Lots A and P, as well as along West Loop.
Restroom Facilities and Campus Policies
Clean and accessible restroom facilities are available for all Pioneer Pool visitors. Men’s and women’s restrooms are located within the locker room facilities attached to the west side of Pioneer Gym, with direct access from the pool deck. It’s important to note that Cal State East Bay is a smoke and tobacco-free campus. This policy, effective since September 1, 2017, prohibits all tobacco products, including cigarettes, vape pens, and chewing tobacco, anywhere on campus, both indoors and outdoors. From San Francisco Bay Bridge & Oakland Highway 880 South:
- Cross the Bay Bridge and merge onto 880 South.
- Take the Jackson St. East exit in Hayward.
- At the first traffic signal after exiting, turn right onto Santa Clara Avenue.
- Santa Clara Avenue will become Harder Road.
- Follow Harder Road for approximately 1.5 miles to reach the University.
From the San Mateo Bridge (Highway 92):
- Head east on the San Mateo Bridge. Highway 92 will turn into Jackson Street.
- Take the Jackson St. East exit.
- At the first traffic signal after exiting, turn right onto Santa Clara Avenue.
- Santa Clara Avenue will become Harder Road.
- Follow Harder Road for approximately 1.5 miles to the University.
From Oakland Highway 580 South:
- Take Highway 580 South towards Hayward.
