AAA Pioneer Valley, an organization with roots tracing back to 1902 as the Springfield Auto Club, has officially merged with AAA Northeast as of January 1st. This means a name change to AAA Northeast for local members in Hadley and the wider Pioneer Valley region.
Sandra Marsian, Vice President for the Pioneer Valley Region, confirmed that while the name is changing, members in areas like Hadley should expect no changes in staffing levels at local branches. AAA Pioneer Valley currently employs 187 people across its branch offices in Greenfield, Hadley, Springfield, and West Springfield, all of which will continue to operate under the AAA Northeast banner.
For members seeking insurance services, locations in Chicopee and Westfield will also continue to provide insurance-only services without interruption. This merger follows AAA Pioneer Valley’s 2019 acquisition of Tierney Insurance Agency Inc. in Westfield, further solidifying AAA’s insurance offerings in the region.
This transition means that the 204,000 existing AAA Pioneer Valley members are now part of a significantly larger organization. AAA Northeast boasts a total of 6 million members, expanding the network and potential benefits available to those in the Pioneer Valley, including Hadley.
While AAA is recognized as a national entity, it operates through regional clubs. AAA Pioneer Valley’s territory previously covered Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties. Now, as part of AAA Northeast, the territory expands to include the rest of Massachusetts, Western Connecticut, Rhode Island, regions of New York including New York City, and parts of New Jersey. AAA Northeast is headquartered in Rhode Island.
According to Marsian, the increased scale of AAA Northeast will allow for the introduction of new products and services previously unavailable to AAA Pioneer Valley members. These include home mortgage lending, a complimentary identity-theft protection program for all memberships, and auto warranty programs. Crucially, emergency road service, a core AAA benefit, will continue without any changes.
Members can also anticipate an expanded range of discounts and rewards through their membership cards thanks to the merger. More details regarding membership benefits can be found here.
