Geoffrey Scott Carter, a resident of Arlington, Texas, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, October 6th, 2022, at the age of 58. His life, deeply rooted in faith and service, particularly at Fielder Church Pioneer campus, will be remembered and celebrated by his family and community.
A visitation to honor Geoff’s life will be held on Thursday, October 13th, from 6-8 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 15th, at Fielder Church Metro Center, Pioneer Campus, located at 2011 S. Fielder Rd., Arlington. Following the service, Geoff will be laid to rest at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale.
Born on July 22nd, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, to Larry Gene Carter and Cindy Sue Bowser Carter, Geoff dedicated many years as a gear specialist at Consolidated Electrical Distributors. However, Geoff’s true passion lay in ministry and sharing his profound faith. For 28 years, Fielder Church, specifically its Pioneer campus, became the cornerstone of his spiritual life. He was deeply devoted to his church family and community group, embodying the spirit of a true pioneer in faith within his local congregation. Every Saturday morning, Geoff engaged in discipleship with fellow men, guiding and supporting them in their roles as spiritual leaders within their own families. His commitment to strengthening marriages was further exemplified through his active involvement in the ReEngage marriage ministry at Fielder Church. Alongside his wife, Dina, he passionately shared the transformative power of God’s faithfulness in their lives and His vision for marriage, impacting countless couples within the church community.
Beyond his church commitments, Geoff embraced life with enthusiasm and used his hobbies as avenues for ministry. He was an avid motorcycle rider and a cherished member of the Armor of God Motorcycle Ministry, Arlington Chapter, known by his road name “Goofy,” a testament to his infectious and joyful personality. His love for fellowship extended to the softball and pickleball courts, where he cultivated relationships and invested in the lives of those around him. Despite his wide-ranging ministry involvements, Geoff’s family remained his paramount focus. He was a devoted husband to Dina Michele Johnson Carter, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. He was a loving father to his sons, Clayton Carter (and wife Libby) and Caleb Carter (and wife Morgan), and his daughter, Katie Elliott (and husband Caleb). His grandchildren, Abbi Grace, Ezra, and Clare, held a special place in his heart, affectionately calling him “Poppi.” Geoff also cherished moments spent hiking and skiing in Colorado with friends and family, embracing the beauty of God’s creation.
Geoff is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dina; his sons, Clayton and Caleb; his daughter, Katie; his brother, Ronny Carter (and wife Pam); his sister, Camille Johnson (and husband Jim); his grandchildren, Abbi Grace, Ezra, and Clare; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him, particularly within the Fielder Church Pioneer community he so faithfully served.
