Early Monday morning, businesses along Pioneer Parkway East in Springfield, Oregon, became the target of vandalism, leaving storefronts damaged and a suspect in police custody. The Springfield Police Department (SPD) responded to a “glass break” alarm at Cosmo Prof Beauty, located at 1853 Pioneer Parkway East, around 12:30 a.m., uncovering a string of damages across multiple establishments, including Great Clips at 1873 Pioneer Parkway East.
Upon arrival at the shopping complex, officers discovered the front door of Cosmo Prof Beauty shattered, with a hole large enough for someone to enter. Further investigation revealed a man on the sidewalk in front of other businesses, which also showed signs of significant damage. Recognizing the immediate threat and proximity to the damaged locations, the officer approached the individual.
SPD reported that the officer initiated a verbal dialogue with the man to de-escalate the situation, suspecting a possible crisis. Following a brief conversation, the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Brandon Lawrence Foster, was peacefully apprehended. A subsequent search found no stolen property on Foster.
A thorough check of the area revealed that nearly every business in the strip mall section of the complex had suffered damage to windows, doors, or both. The list of affected businesses includes a range of services, from beauty supplies to telecommunications and even a wine shop, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the vandalism.
