Frankfort, IL – Brody Anders, a student at Pioneer Grove Educational Center in Frankfort, Illinois, was celebrated at the Infinitec awards banquet on Thursday, March 8th, receiving the prestigious 2018 Infinitec Outstanding Student Technology Award. This recognition highlights Brody’s remarkable progress in communication, utilizing his iPad mini as an assistive technology tool at Pioneer Grove Educational Center.

Anne Trovato, the Speech Language Pathologist for Lincoln-Way Area Special Education Cooperative District 843, who works with Brody at Pioneer Grove Frankfort IL, nominated him for this esteemed award. “Brody’s nomination for the 2017-18 Infinitec Southwest Outstanding Student Technology Achievement Award is a testament to the significant strides he has made in communicating with others. He effectively uses a communication application on his iPad mini,” Trovato explained. She further added, “Brody is a delightful and affectionate young boy, and his cheerful smile brightens any room. Everyone on the educational team at Pioneer Grove Educational Center is incredibly proud of his accomplishments and we all enjoy his jokes and his friendly greetings like ‘What’s up, dude?’”
Infinitec, an initiative of UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago, champions “infinite potential through technology.” Their core mission is to empower both children and adults with disabilities by fostering independence and promoting inclusive opportunities through the strategic use of technology. The Infinitec Outstanding Technology Award specifically acknowledges students who have demonstrated significant advancements in their independence at school through the use of assistive technology. This technology can range from specialized software and adapted wheelchairs to augmentative communication devices and various innovative equipment and approaches.
