Pioneer AVH-P4400BH Installation and Rear Camera Display Problems

After extensive research and waiting for all the necessary components, I finally completed the installation of my Pioneer AVH-P4400BH car stereo system. While I am ultimately pleased with the outcome, I’ve encountered a couple of issues, specifically concerning the functionality of the rear view camera. I am hoping someone with experience with the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH or similar car radio models can offer some guidance.

Firstly, the orientation of the rear camera image appears incorrect, as illustrated in the attached picture. Could this be a setting issue within the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH unit itself, or perhaps a wiring problem I overlooked during the installation?

Secondly, I have configured the rear view camera and the radio’s reverse trigger to activate when either the reverse lights are engaged or the parking sensor button is pressed. The camera does indeed power up correctly under both of these conditions. However, to actually display the camera feed on the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH screen, I must manually select the camera “on” icon on the head unit’s display.

If I leave the camera setting in the “on” state, the display persistently defaults back to the camera image, even when the reverse triggers are no longer active. While I can switch to other sources like iPod or radio, the system invariably reverts to the rear camera display after a few moments. This occurs despite the camera and radio triggers being off.

Is the rear camera view on the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH designed to automatically appear on the head unit screen when triggered, without requiring manual activation via the camera icon? Any insights or troubleshooting advice regarding these Pioneer AVH-P4400BH rear camera issues would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps there are specific settings within the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH menu that I need to adjust to ensure proper rear camera operation?
