The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce ongoing events designed to enrich the lives of senior citizens through the power of performance. Introducing Golden Encore, a dedicated outreach program, brings exceptional entertainment and lifelong learning directly to seniors within our community.
Recognizing the critical need to combat social isolation among seniors, the Pioneer Center developed Golden Encore. A recent study, the March 2022 “Seniors Quality of Life Survey,” highlighted that a significant majority of seniors in Washoe County experience feelings of isolation and barriers to community participation. This concerning data, coupled with the well-documented health benefits of engaging with the arts, motivated the Pioneer Center to take action. Golden Encore directly addresses these issues by delivering professional performing arts experiences to senior centers, assisted living facilities, libraries, and other community spaces.
Golden Encore programs feature a diverse roster of talented artists who provide engaging performances encompassing music, movement, historical narratives, and nostalgic journeys through memory lane. Each program is thoughtfully designed, incorporating elements endorsed by experts to positively impact both the mental and physical well-being of seniors. This initiative ensures that participants not only enjoy high-quality entertainment but also benefit from the therapeutic aspects of the arts.
