The automotive landscape in Marietta and Parkersburg has shifted as three prominent dealerships have transitioned to new ownership. Thomas and Ashley Peden, expanding their automotive group, have acquired Pioneer Chevrolet in Marietta, alongside Family Ford Lincoln in Marietta and Pioneer Honda of Parkersburg. This acquisition, brokered by Mark Beford of the Tim Lamb Group and Richard Nourse, marks a significant development for the local automotive market.
Pioneer Honda of Parkersburg to Become Parkersburg Honda Under New Ownership
Under the agreement finalized on October 17th, Pioneer Chevrolet, located at 1315 Pike St. in Marietta, will retain its established name, ensuring continuity for its loyal customer base. However, changes are in store for the other dealerships. Pioneer Honda of Parkersburg, situated at 1920 Garfield Ave., will be rebranded as Parkersburg Honda. Family Ford Lincoln, currently at 909 Pike St. in Marietta, will adopt the name Pioneer Ford Lincoln, aligning it with the Pioneer brand and solidifying its presence in the Marietta area.
This acquisition allows Richard Nourse, a veteran of the automotive industry in this region for over 35 years, to streamline his focus on his remaining five dealerships in Chillicothe. These dealerships encompass Ford, Honda, Lincoln, Nissan, and Toyota brands, allowing him to concentrate his efforts within a more geographically centralized market.

Nourse expressed that while selling wasn’t initially on his mind, the opportunity to entrust his dealerships to the Pedens was compelling. Impressed by their accomplishments in the Zanesville market, Nourse believes the Pedens are well-suited to uphold and build upon the community-focused legacy he established.
For Thomas Peden II, a West Virginia native and third-generation car dealer, this acquisition represents a homecoming and an expansion of his growing dealership platform. Having purchased his first dealerships in Zanesville in June 2020, Peden has brought his sister, Ashley, into the partnership. Ashley, who currently manages the Zanesville Honda Toyota dealerships, will play a key role in this new venture.
Pioneer Chevrolet Marietta to Keep Name Under New Peden Group
The Pedens emphasize their commitment to maintaining the existing teams at all three locations. With all dealerships situated within a 15-mile radius and near their hometown, they aim to continue the community involvement that was a hallmark of Nourse’s ownership. This acquisition signals a promising future for Pioneer Chevrolet, Pioneer Ford Lincoln, and Parkersburg Honda under the experienced and community-oriented leadership of the Peden family.
