As we move into 2024, Pioneer Community Energy reflects on a year of significant achievements and looks forward to continued progress in delivering value to our community. Celebrating our five-year milestone in 2023 provided a valuable opportunity to recognize our journey and the substantial $85 million in savings we’ve brought to our customers since 2018. This new year reinforces our dedication to affordability, pioneering new programs, and empowering customers with greater energy choices.
Despite a volatile energy market characterized by increasing demand for renewable energy and supply constraints that impact pricing, Pioneer Community Energy remains committed to keeping costs down for our customers. Our Governing Board is resolute in ensuring that all Pioneer customers will realize electricity generation savings of 10 percent or more compared to PG&E throughout 2024. This commitment is projected to deliver an additional $41 million in savings to households and businesses within our service area, directly benefiting the pioneer community energy users.
This year marks the exciting launch of new initiatives shaped by valuable input from our Community Advisory Committee. These programs are specifically designed to address the unique requirements of the communities we serve, demonstrating our deep commitment to reinvesting in our community and providing tangible benefits to our customers. Our ongoing projects span a range of critical areas, from biomass initiatives that are beneficial for the environment and reduce the risk of wildfires, to proactive customer advocacy at both the California Public Utilities Commission and the state level. We are dedicated to being a true pioneer community energy provider in all aspects of our operations.
We are also thrilled to announce the expansion of Pioneer Community Energy to include Grass Valley and Nevada City. This expansion marks a significant and exciting phase in our development, allowing us to extend the advantages of a community-owned, not-for-profit utility to even more residents and businesses. These new communities will now benefit from the same dedication to customer service and cost savings that define pioneer community energy.
