Pioneer Park has been a beloved destination for families in Marin County for years. Nestled in western Novato, this expansive nine-acre park offers a wealth of attractions, including recently renovated playgrounds, lush green lawns, inviting picnic spots, and plenty of shady trees. It’s the ideal location for hosting memorable birthday parties and enjoying active outdoor fun.
Beyond the playgrounds, Pioneer Park also features well-maintained and lighted tennis courts, a charming gazebo, and a historic pioneer cemetery situated on a hill adjacent to the park, offering a unique glimpse into Novato’s past.
Playground Paradise for All Ages
The park’s playground area is a highlight, boasting recent upgrades that cater to children of all ages and abilities. Younger children, aged 2–5, will love the dedicated tot lot, while older kids (ages 5–12) can explore the large and engaging play structure. The redesigned playgrounds prioritize safety and inclusivity with rubberized surfaces, ample shade umbrellas, and perimeter fencing. Thoughtful amenities ensure accessibility and inclusive play for all children. Conveniently located picnic tables and charcoal BBQ grills are scattered throughout the park, and a spacious covered group BBQ area adjacent to the playground makes it perfect for larger gatherings and birthday celebrations.
Embrace the Outdoors and Green Spaces
One of the most appealing aspects of Pioneer Park is its sprawling green lawns, framed by mature, shady trees. These inviting open spaces are perfect for playing games, enjoying a relaxing picnic on a blanket, or simply soaking up the California sunshine. Paved pathways meander through the park and extend up to the adjacent knoll, home to Novato’s historic cemetery. This cemetery serves as the final resting place for many of Novato’s original founders, adding a layer of historical interest to your park visit.
