Pioneer Park has been a beloved destination for families in Marin County for many years. Nestled in western Novato, this expansive nine-acre park has recently undergone renovations, boasting updated playgrounds, sprawling green lawns, designated picnic spots, and plenty of shade provided by mature trees. With its generous space and amenities, Pioneer Park is an ideal location for hosting birthday celebrations and enjoying active outdoor recreation.

The park also features well-maintained and illuminated tennis courts that have been recently remodeled, a charming gazebo, and a historic pioneer cemetery located on a hill adjacent to the park grounds, offering a glimpse into Novato’s past.

Explore the Upgraded Park Features

The playground area at Pioneer Park has been significantly enhanced with new installations catering to different age groups. A dedicated tot lot designed for children aged 2 to 5 provides a safe and engaging play space, while older children (ages 5 to 12) can enjoy a larger, more adventurous play structure. The redesigned playgrounds prioritize safety and accessibility, featuring rubberized surfaces to cushion falls, ample shade umbrellas to protect from the sun, and perimeter fencing for added security. Thoughtful amenities ensure inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.

Throughout Pioneer Park, visitors will find numerous picnic tables and charcoal BBQ grills, perfect for casual outdoor meals. For larger gatherings and parties, a spacious covered group BBQ area is conveniently situated near the playground, making it easy to supervise children while preparing food and socializing.

One of the park’s most appealing aspects is its vast, gently rolling lawns, dotted with mature, shady trees. These grassy expanses offer the perfect setting for outdoor games, family picnics, or simply relaxing on a blanket and soaking up the California sunshine. Paved pathways meander throughout the park, including a route that leads to the adjacent knoll and Novato’s oldest cemetery. This historic cemetery serves as the final resting place for many of Novato’s original settlers, offering a unique historical element to the park experience.
