Getting ready for race day at Pioneer Park in Prescott, AZ? This guide provides all the essential information for participants and spectators, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. Pioneer Park is a fantastic venue known for hosting exciting outdoor events, and understanding the logistics beforehand will help everyone have a great time.

Race Day Essentials at Pioneer Park

Navigating race day involves knowing key details about staging, parking, and team pit areas. Here’s a breakdown to help you prepare:

Staging and Call-Ups

For independent riders competing in Division 2 (Boys Junior Varsity 1, Junior Varsity 2, and Freshman categories), understanding the staging process is crucial. Riders need to be aware that race officials may pull participants who are lapped by the leader or exceed the time limit at the finish line. Importantly, no rider can start a new lap within 5 minutes before the next race wave begins.

Staging order is determined by the overall standings within each field for the current season. For each race, the top 10 ranked riders in every field will be called up by name to the starting line. It’s the rider’s responsibility to know their staging position, be present at the designated area at the correct time, and listen for their name to be called. Riders who miss their call will be positioned behind all already staged riders. Participants new to ACA events will be placed randomly at the back of their respective race field.

Parking Information

Ample parking is available around the venue. You can find parking in the field located east of the team pits, in the dirt lot south of Kuebler Field, and in the paved parking lot on the east side of Commerce Drive. For a detailed view of parking areas, refer to the Course & Infield Map and look at the larger map viewable in the top right corner. Please park efficiently and follow directions from event staff on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow.

It’s essential to park vehicles only in designated areas marked with signs at Pioneer Park and as indicated on the venue map. Cooperation with parking volunteers and ACA staff is required, and any violations could lead to penalties for the respective team. Handicap parking is conveniently located in the parking lot near the team pits. When arriving at the team pits area, use the designated loading/unloading zone promptly and then move your vehicle to the designated parking areas. Traffic flow in and out of the team pit drop-off area is one-way, so please adhere to directional signage. Note that parking within the team pits is strictly prohibited.

Team Pit Area

Each team will be assigned a specific pit space. The team pit area will be accessible to vehicle traffic for loading and unloading during scheduled times. Each team will receive one pass for parking in the designated pit map area. Vehicles can enter and exit during restricted times but must remain east of the marked red line. Attempting to move vehicles within the team pits outside of the designated times may result in pit pass revocation. For safety, gasoline generators and open flames are not permitted inside the team pit area.

By familiarizing yourself with these details regarding staging, parking, and team pits at Pioneer Park in Prescott, AZ, you can ensure a focused and enjoyable race day experience. Remember to check for any last-minute updates or announcements from race organizers as race day approaches.
