The Pioneer Pavilion, a distinctive two-story sandstone building nestled between Youngstown’s west and south sides, offers an exceptional setting for a variety of events. Whether you’re planning wedding receptions, graduation celebrations, holiday parties, or any memorable gathering, this versatile space can comfortably accommodate up to 96 guests.

Versatile Spaces and Comprehensive Amenities at Pioneer Pavilion

The Pioneer Pavilion is thoughtfully designed to cater to your event needs with both upstairs and downstairs areas. The upper level comfortably seats 72 guests, furnished with nine 60” round tables and four rectangular buffet tables, perfect for dining and socializing. Downstairs, a more intimate setting accommodates 24 people with six square tables and three rectangular buffet tables. Both levels feature the cozy ambiance of a gas log fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

For your convenience, the pavilion is equipped with essential amenities, including a stove and refrigerator for catering needs, and easily accessible restrooms on both levels. While the building is not air-conditioned, it offers a delightful outdoor terrace complete with six 16’ picnic tables, extending your event space and providing a refreshing open-air option. Barrier-free restrooms are also accessible from the terrace, ensuring comfort for all guests. Please note that balloons are not permitted upstairs to maintain the pavilion’s aesthetic. Alcoholic beverages are allowed, giving you flexibility in your event planning.

Parking is readily available with space for 39 vehicles. For those interested in additional outdoor activities, the closest grills and playground are located at the nearby Lower Bears Den Picnic area, offering further recreational opportunities for your guests. MetroParks Police Officers are present to monitor evening events, ensuring a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Booking Your Event and Important Guidelines

Securing your rental at the Pioneer Pavilion is straightforward. Approximately one week before your scheduled event, your key or keyless entry code will be mailed to you, providing seamless access to the facility. It is crucial to contact the Park Office at 330.702.3000, Monday-Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm if you DO NOT receive your access information to avoid any issues. Please be aware that refunds will not be issued for failure to contact the office regarding access.

Your rental period encompasses all activities, including setup, decorating, deliveries, the event itself, and cleanup. It is essential to adhere to your reserved time slot as entry to MetroParks facilities is restricted to paid hours only. Should you require additional time, consecutive hours can be arranged and must be paid for in advance according to the park guidelines. We strongly encourage you to thoroughly review the complete Guidelines prior to making a rental, as payment signifies your agreement to abide by all regulations.

Cancellation Policy for Pioneer Pavilion Reservations

To cancel or modify your Pioneer Pavilion reservation, your receipt number is required. Refunds are processed within 5 working days of receiving your cancellation, based on the following schedule:

  • More than 60 days before the reserved date: 85% refund
  • 30-60 days before the reserved date: 50% refund
  • Less than 30 days before the reserved date: No refund
