Pioneer Valley High School: Ensuring a Discrimination-Free Environment

Pioneer Valley High School, part of the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District (SMJUHSD), is firmly dedicated to providing equal and respectful access to both employment and educational opportunities. Our commitment is reflected in a strict non-discrimination policy designed to ensure a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for every student and staff member.

SMJUHSD, and by extension Pioneer Valley High School, prohibits discrimination in any aspect of employment practices, educational programs, or activities. This prohibition extends to discrimination based on association with individuals or groups possessing certain characteristics. These protected characteristics include, but are not limited to: age, ancestry, color, disability, ethnicity, ethnic group identification, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital, family or parental status, medical condition, military or veteran status, nationality, national origin, immigration status, political affiliation, pregnancy and related conditions, race, religion, retaliation, sex (including sexual harassment), and sexual orientation. This commitment aligns with both California state and federal non-discrimination laws, ensuring comprehensive protection within our school community.

Pioneer Valley High School recognizes that fostering a learning environment free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying is paramount. We actively work to prevent discriminatory practices and encourage anyone who believes they have experienced such treatment to come forward.

For individuals who feel they have been subjected to discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying, we have a clear reporting process. We urge immediate contact with the District’s Discrimination, Equity and Title IX Compliance Officer, Mr. Salvador Reynoso. Mr. Reynoso can be reached at 2560 Skyway Drive, Santa Maria, CA 93455, by phone at (805) 922-4573, or via email at [email protected].
