Pioneer Waterland: Your Premier Destination for Family Fun Reopens

Pioneer Waterland and Dry Fun Park has officially reopened its doors in late May, welcoming families and fun-seekers for an unforgettable summer experience. Under new ownership, this cherished park is not just back – it’s better than ever, promising a blend of thrilling water attractions and engaging dry activities.

After being acquired at auction in 2014, Pioneer Waterland has undergone extensive renovations and upgrades, all thanks to a group of seven local businesspeople from Chardon. Driven by a passion to revive this community gem, the new owners, including David Browne and Dan Sammons, have made it their mission to restore Pioneer Waterland to its former glory as the ultimate family destination. Their vision is clear: to recapture the magic that made Pioneer Waterland the premier family spot in its heyday, reminiscent of the beloved park from the late ’80s and early ’90s.

“Pioneer Waterland is being brought back to life,” Dan Sammons enthusiastically shared, echoing the sentiment of the entire team. David Browne further elaborated, “The park used to be considered the premier family place to come. It used to be a really cool place out here. A lot of the maintenance got let go, and it ended up getting a little bit run down, so we want to bring it back to the way it was back in the late ’80s, early ’90s.” This commitment to revitalization is evident in every corner of the park.

Dive into Thrilling Water Attractions

Pioneer Waterland has always been synonymous with exhilarating water adventures, and the reopening amplifies this legacy. The iconic speed slides have been completely refinished and resurfaced, boasting a vibrant lime green and neon yellow paint job that screams summer fun. But the improvements are more than just cosmetic. “Before, they were full of bolts and rough on the back. We eliminated the bolts,” Browne explained. “So now they’re faster than ever and smoother than ever.” Prepare for an even more thrilling ride down these revamped slides!

The centerpiece, a massive two-and-a-half-million-gallon swimming pool fed by a natural artisan spring, has also seen significant improvements. The deep end is now reopened, inviting swimmers to plunge into depths greater than eight feet. For those seeking a more relaxed water experience, the Lazy River inner tube ride offers a gentle float through the park’s scenic surroundings.

Explore Dry Fun for Everyone

Understanding that family fun extends beyond the water, Pioneer Waterland has expanded its dry attractions. The newly revitalized arcade is a major highlight, featuring brand new games alongside classic favorites like pool tables and air hockey. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just looking for some indoor entertainment, the arcade offers a cool escape from the summer heat.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the addition of five new batting cages, designed to cater to everyone from casual hitters to aspiring Little League teams. Imagine spending an afternoon perfecting your swing in these state-of-the-art cages. For those who prefer sand between their toes, the sand volleyball courts are ready for friendly matches and competitive games.

Enhanced Amenities for a Comfortable Visit

Pioneer Waterland is dedicated to ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience for all visitors. New cabanas are available for rent, offering families a shaded retreat where parents can relax while keeping a close eye on their children in the pool area. The park has also made improvements to essential facilities like bathrooms and the gift shop.

The concession stand now offers a selection of beer and wine for adults to enjoy responsibly, adding another layer of relaxation to your park visit. Looking ahead, Pioneer Waterland is actively working on reopening the camping area, complete with full water and electric service, promising future overnight stays and extended fun.

Perfect Venue for Groups and Events

Beyond individual families, Pioneer Waterland is positioning itself as the ideal venue for company functions and picnics. With 16 pavilions available for rent, including premium options with beverage service, it’s a fantastic setting for businesses to host memorable company outings. Imagine team-building activities combined with water park thrills – a perfect recipe for a successful and enjoyable corporate event.
