As the son of Pioneer Waterproofing’s founder, Tom Crawford, Mike Crawford has been immersed in the business for over 45 years. His comprehensive experience spans every facet of the company, from field operations to executive leadership. In his role as President, Mike is responsible for overseeing company-wide operations, ensuring project management excellence, contributing to select project estimations, and managing human resources. He is particularly proud of Pioneer Waterproofing’s exceptional employee retention, with over 50% of the crew having been with the company for more than a decade, and a significant number representing multi-generational employment. Beyond his corporate duties, Mike founded the company’s cherished Holiday Bike Drive, which has donated over 4,800 new bikes to children since 1998, reflecting his commitment to community and values. The responsibility for managing crews, production, and equipment across more than 30 diverse waterproofing services is a team effort, shared across the entire Pioneer management team under Mike’s leadership.

Sara Stone represents the third generation of the Crawford family at Pioneer Waterproofing, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, founder Tom Crawford. After graduating from Oregon State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Sara gained foundational experience by joining the administrative team and learning the operational aspects of the business from the ground up. Now a Project Manager, Sara is crucial to ensuring projects progress smoothly, stay on schedule, and remain within budget. Her key responsibilities include preparing submittal packages, conducting background checks, securing necessary permits, sourcing materials, and meticulously managing all project details to guarantee successful outcomes for Pioneer Waterproofing’s clientele.
Steven Karaba – Project Manager Spokane
Steven Karaba joined Pioneer Waterproofing in 2014 and was promoted to Project Manager in 2020, taking on direct responsibility for clients in Spokane and throughout the Inland Northwest. Steven is actively involved in all project phases, from estimating and bidding to scheduling, material procurement, and coordinating Pioneer’s work with contractors and subcontractors in the region. He is also focused on business development, aiming to strengthen Pioneer Waterproofing’s presence and reputation in the Spokane area. Having started his construction career in 2006, Steven brings a wealth of experience in commercial building maintenance and repair services to his role.

Darrin Arnott – Controller/Vice-President
Darrin Arnott became part of Pioneer Waterproofing’s management team in 2014, bringing over two decades of accounting expertise, primarily within the construction industry. As Controller/Vice-President, he provides essential financial leadership, aligning financial strategies with the company’s overarching business objectives. Beyond managing the accounting department, Darrin’s responsibilities extend to taxation and licensing, insurance management, IT and telecommunications oversight, employee benefits and retirement plan administration, and workers’ compensation. He also manages Pioneer’s equipment, inventory, and vehicle fleet. Darrin, a graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Economics, relocated to Oregon in 2006. He values the collaborative nature of the construction environment, continually gaining new insights and a deeper understanding of Pioneer’s comprehensive operations.
