Tips for Perfect Thanksgiving Stuffing Muffins
Making stuffing muffins is surprisingly simple, and with a little preparation, they can be a stress-free addition to your Thanksgiving menu. Here are some helpful tips to ensure stuffing muffin success:
-
Make-Ahead Magic: Thanksgiving prep can be overwhelming, but these muffins can be made in stages. Cube your bread a day or two in advance and let it dry out – this is key for great stuffing texture. The flavorful herb and vegetable mixture can also be sautéed ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. On Thanksgiving Day, simply combine everything, bake, and enjoy!
-
Herb Customization: Don’t be afraid to get creative with your herbs! The recipe offers a guideline, but feel free to adjust based on your preferences and what you have on hand. If mushrooms aren’t your favorite, you can easily omit them. For those who enjoy mushrooms, finely dicing them and sautéing until golden brown ensures they blend seamlessly into the stuffing and add a subtle depth of flavor.
-
Dairy-Free Option: For guests with dietary restrictions, Parmesan cheese is optional. These stuffing muffins are delicious even without the cheese, making them easily adaptable for a dairy-free crowd.

- 10 ounces crimini mushrooms, sliced
- 2 bunches green onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cups celery, finely chopped
- ¾ cup fresh Italian parsley, chopped

- 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 3 large garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 3 large eggs
- 1 ¼ cups chicken broth
- 4 ounces coarsely grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bread: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread bread cubes on a large baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes, or until dried out. Let cool.
- Sauté Vegetables and Herbs: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and sauté for 6 minutes, until softened. Add green onions, celery, herbs (parsley, oregano, sage, thyme), garlic, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 6-8 minutes, until celery is tender.
