Thursday, October 17th: Pioneer Days Kick-Off Mixer at 29 Palms Inn
The festivities begin with the Pioneer Days 2024 Kick-Off Mixer at the iconic 29 Palms Inn. This welcoming event offers a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow community members, event organizers, and kick off the Pioneer Days celebrations in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
Friday, October 18th: Glow in the Park Party at Luckie Park
As the sun sets on Friday, Luckie Park will light up for the Pioneer Days 2024 Glow in the Park Party. This family-friendly evening event promises a vibrant and exciting atmosphere with glowing lights, music, and fun activities for all ages under the desert stars.
Saturday, October 19th: Pioneer Days Parade & Block Party in Downtown Twentynine Palms
Saturday is the centerpiece of Pioneer Days 2024, featuring the highly anticipated Pioneer Days Parade. Following the parade, downtown Twentynine Palms will transform into a lively hub for the Pioneer Days Block Party. Expect a day filled with community spirit, local vendors, entertainment, and activities for the whole family.
Sunday, October 20th: Classic Car & Motorcycle Show and Palms-N-Paws Pet Parade
The final day of Pioneer Days 2024 offers two fantastic events. Car enthusiasts will appreciate the Classic Car & Motorcycle Show at the Historic Plaza, showcasing a stunning array of vintage vehicles. Simultaneously, animal lovers can head to Luckie Park for the heartwarming Palms-N-Paws Annual Pet Parade, a delightful spectacle of pets and their proud owners.
Celebrating Community Spirit and Desert Roots
While we are excited about the diverse program for Pioneer Days 2024, we also want to address a change to this year’s event. Unfortunately, the carnival, a regular feature of Pioneer Days, has been cancelled for 2024 due to unforeseen labor shortages impacting the contracted provider, Paul Maurer Shows. This situation, stemming from national issues with H-2B visa programs affecting commercial drivers and laborers, is beyond our direct control.
We understand that the carnival is a much-loved aspect of Pioneer Days, and this cancellation is disappointing. However, the Parks & Recreation Department is committed to ensuring that Pioneer Days 2024 remains a vibrant and engaging community event. We are focusing on the core traditions of Pioneer Days and providing alternative activities that truly reflect the “grassroots” origins of this cherished celebration. This year presents an opportunity to reconnect with the fundamental values of our community and discover new ways to celebrate together.
