Meet Leah G. Kobes, MD – Your Family Physician

Dr. Leah Kobes is a board-certified family physician with deep roots in Eastern Washington. Growing up in Spokane and nearby small towns, she developed a passion for rural healthcare. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Washington State University, earning degrees in both Music (trumpet) and Genetics, showcasing her diverse talents and intellectual curiosity. Prior to medical school, Dr. Kobes gained valuable experience in patient care, working as a nurse aide in an assisted living facility and serving her community as a school bus driver.

Driven by her desire to practice family medicine in a smaller community, Dr. Kobes attended medical school through the University of Washington’s WWAMI program, spending time in Pullman and Spokane. Her clinical rotations in Grand Coulee and Colfax further solidified her commitment to rural practice. After completing her residency at the Family Medicine Residency Spokane in June 2019, she began practicing in Deer Park. Dr. Kobes is board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians, demonstrating her expertise and dedication to the specialty. She is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the Washington Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Washington Rural Health Association, and the Spokane County Medical Society, highlighting her commitment to professional development and community involvement.

In July 2020, Dr. Kobes realized her vision by opening her own private practice, Pioneer Family Medicine, in Deer Park. She is thrilled to provide long-term, compassionate care to the community she serves. Outside of her practice, Dr. Kobes enjoys a rich family life with her son and daughter and embraces a variety of hobbies, including fishing, square dancing, hiking, woodworking, cooking, playing music, farming, and spending quality time with family. Her diverse interests reflect her well-rounded personality and her commitment to a balanced life.

Meet Ryan D. Agostinelli, PA-C – Physician Assistant

Ryan Agostinelli, PA-C, considers himself a native of the Inland Northwest, having grown up in Post Falls, Idaho. His interest in healthcare was inspired by observing his father, a medical massage therapist, build strong patient relationships while providing valuable care. This early exposure sparked Ryan’s passion for helping others and led him to become a family practice Physician Assistant.

Ryan believes in a patient-centered approach to healthcare, tailoring his treatment to individual needs and preferences at Pioneer Family Medicine. His medical philosophy emphasizes the body’s innate ability to heal when supported by healthy lifestyle choices, proper nutrition, psychological well-being, and appropriate medical interventions. While trained in allopathic (Western) medicine, Ryan is committed to lifelong learning and exploring alternative and holistic approaches to healthcare, expanding his knowledge base to better serve his patients.

Beyond his work at Pioneer Family Medicine, Ryan is dedicated to his family life with his wife and two daughters. Grounded in Christian principles, they lead an active life. His wife homeschools their children and enjoys sewing, while Ryan enjoys DIY projects around their home. They aspire to own acreage in the future, furthering their interests in self-sufficiency and natural living, reflecting their commitment to a holistic and balanced lifestyle both personally and professionally within the Pioneer Family Medicine practice.
