Get ready for thrilling developments in our softball program! Pioneer Youth Sports is excited to announce significant enhancements designed to elevate the experience for our young athletes.
For our 8U division, team formations will remain unchanged, ensuring a consistent and enjoyable environment for our youngest players. Please note that there is no silver division for this age group.
The major highlight is the introduction of a tournament option for our 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions! We are launching Pioneer Premier, our dedicated tournament/club program, marking an exciting new chapter for Pioneer softball. Pioneer Premier teams will primarily be composed of talented players from within the Orange County community and our existing Pioneer Youth Sports program. However, we welcome players from outside the community to try out, especially those in key positions such as pitchers and catchers, or if additional players are needed to complete a team roster.
Tryouts for our Pioneer Premier teams are scheduled for January and February. Specific dates, times, and locations are still to be determined (TBD), so please stay tuned for further announcements. Practices and tournament schedules for Pioneer Premier will be determined by each team’s coach. Participating in Pioneer Premier requires a higher level of commitment from both players and their families, likely involving 2-3 practices per week in addition to tournaments throughout the summer season.
In March, we will hold assessments for the recreational (rec) and silver divisions. These assessments will be crucial for forming balanced silver teams within our 10U and 12U rec program. If we have sufficient numbers and talent to form multiple silver teams in either division, coaches will draft players to ensure teams are evenly matched and competitive.
Please be aware that there is no silver division for the 14U age group. Despite this, we strongly encourage all 14U players to attend assessments to help us create balanced teams within this age division.
Kindly note that buddy, coach, and schedule requests cannot be accommodated for Pioneer Premier and silver teams to maintain fairness and team balance. We will make every effort to consider requests for 8U teams and for players participating in the non-silver rec level within the 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions.
